Forest birds on a blackberry branch

Forest birds are very attractive with incredible behaviour. As small as they are fascinating, they are still largely unknown to many people.
About these Birds

Some curiosities about parids

Parrots are very small birds that are surprisingly active. They can be found in forests and dense scrubland, but are increasingly common in urban areas. They are tiny birds that go unnoticed but are very attractive and fun to watch.

Among the most frequent species we have the Blue Tit (Lophophanes cristatus), the smallest in this collection, has a very striking crest, is insectivorous but can be seen eating strawberries and seeds that it stores in tree hollows. The Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) is characterised by its beautiful blue and yellow plumage, it is insectivorous but also eats seeds and some small fruits, but above all it stands out for being very curious and a great trapeze bird, it likes to hang down to eat. It is easy to see it at feeders placed in the forest, where it comes to browse and peck. Lastly, we have the Great Tit (Parus major), a black parid that contrasts with the yellow of its body. It is so named precisely because of its dark plumage. It likes to eat and nest in constructions made for it by man, and groups in flocks with other moorhens. It is not at all shy, so it can be seen in gardens and areas with human presence.

How it was done

Discover how this Painting was made

This painting was done from 30 December 2020 and finished on 20 February, but it was not a continuous work due to the intense cold that made it very difficult to paint in the street. It was the first work where the perch, a blackberry branch, is as important as the birds perched on it. Many people emphasise the realism of the fruits and how appetizing they are to them. It is important to note that the birds are proportionate in size to the strawberry and that they are this small, strange as it may seem.
